Ready for vacation
Ok, so I haven't put up any recent pictures yet. It just seems like I never have the time to get to it. Jen's been enjoying her new job as a stay at home mom. The first week she was off, all the kids were still in daycare so it was like a mini vacation she said. But during that 'vacation' she ended up doing a TON of spring cleaning. Ella's home full time now with her and the boys only have a couple more weeks of school then it's summer.
We spent Saturday at Valleyfair for a CubScout event. It was fun, but man was it crowded. We were there about 6 hours but only ended up going on around 7 or 8 rides. The rest of that time (except lunch) was spent walking around and standing in line.
Will turns 7 on the 28th so we are taking him to WaterPark of America this weekend. A new hotel with an indoor waterpark. Hopefully that won't be too crowded. We were able to get a preview of the hotel and park and it's really nice. He's going to love it.
Jeez, he's 7 already, I'm definitely getting older.
I spoke with Mom over the weekend and she sounded good. I was happy to hear that, I'm still waiting for her to have her tests so she can let me know what to expect. But in the meantime, I'm glad she's doing better now.
I'm ready for a vacation already. We just got back from our crazy drive to AZ at the beginning of April and I'm ready to go on vacation again. I heard from Treesie that Kaylee, Kyle and Kevin may be able to come up to spend some time with us over the 4th of July. Hopefully that'll work out for everyone. It was nice having Mom and Dad up over Christmas. And we were glad to have family come visit us...*cough*cough*HINT*
I've decided to try and get in touch with my old friends from Florida again as well as from AZ. I think I may have located Rich Wilson's parent's address so I'm going to send them a letter. It'd be nice to see where everyone is now.
Ok, I'm out...pictures will eventually find their way up here I promise.
Driving here and there
Sometimes, it seems like all we do is run around town after work. Last night when I got home, I had a text alert on my work phone so I had to log in and work on a production problem. Not a problem really, since that's what I'm paid to do. So while I was doing that, the rest of the family was having dinner.
As soon as I was done I had to grab Will, jump in the car and speed to his cub scout meeting. Being an asst den leader means I should usually be there on time, but nothing I could do about that. Not a bad meeting, I was giving a little speech on fire safety before our den camping trip next month. For 1st graders, I had to keep it down to 3 basic rules.
While I was doing that, Jen had to pack up dinner and then bring Warner and Ella to Warner's first black belt class. He told me all about it. Now, they're teaching him the kind of things to really do some damage to a person. As soon as she was done there she headed over to Will's soccer practice to meet us. Around the same time, Will and I left the den meeting early to run to Soccer late. He finished that up and had fun but man what a crazy night.
Hopefully with summer kicking in, things will slow down a little.
I read Han's post from yesterday http://thenieborgs.blogspot.com and I'd say I have to agree with most of what he said. My pet peeve though is when people driving along see a cop on the road and decide that it must be illegal to be driving faster than him. So, if the cop is on the freeway doing 50, everyone else decides that the speed limits must have been reduced and nobody will pass him. That bugs me like crazy.
Ok, enough blabbering, talk to you later.
Getting back into this
Time to get working on this blog again, so here goes...
Things that have changed since our first post.
I left Target after 5 and 1/2 years to start a new job with Wells Fargo. I love it, it's definitely a challenge re-adjusting to a completely different corporate world. I'm still pretty much doing the same thing as I was at Target, but the website I support now is for corporate banking rather than consumer credit card payments online.
Jen left Target after almost the same amount of time and is giving the Stay at home mom thing a go. She's been thinking about it for a while and finally decided to give it a shot to see how it works out. We're all really happy for her, especially the kids who won't need a sitter over the summer now.
Warner just earned his black belt in Karate. The graduation was May 13th at the convention center in downtown. Jen and I are both very proud of him for sticking through with it. It's been a long trip, he started just before he turned 5 so it's been just shy of 6 years in the making. I'll post pictures as soon as I can. Besides that, he just started his baseball league. He missed all of the practices getting ready for the Karate graduation, but at his first game, he ripped a screamer down the third base line for a stand-up double. The coach came over and told me "First at-bat, first pitch and he does that?He can skip every practice if he can do that every game"

Willem has earned his advanced red-belt and is now about a year and a half away from his black belt. He always tells me he doesn't want to go to practice, but once he gets there, he loves it. The best part is watching him spar. It's semi-contact sparring (punches and kicks to the body are ok, but no head contact is allowed) so you have to be ready. He'll jump right in there swinging away at his opponent regardless of their size. He's definitely one tough little kid. He has his first soccer practice tonight so that will be fun to watch. It'll be fun being the soccer dad. I just have to keep my excitement in check and not yell too much during the games.

Ella is growing like a weed. She's in the middle of potty training and she's doing pretty good with it. She is turning into a little princess which is a little funny considering she's got two older brothers who couldn't want less to do with girly stuff. She's really into Snow White right now so that's cool. It'll be especially fun when/if we can take a trip to DisneyWorld. She's talking a lot too which is nice because when she needs something she usually just asks. The best part is that she is becoming much more independent and not taking too much grief from the boys. She'll hold her own for awhile with both of them.

Ok, that's the family update, we're all thinking about Mom and the boys are including her in their prayers. Like I said, I'll add some family pics a little later. I'll also try to keep this thing up to date more.
Let me know what you think.
Cheers.
